Custom software,
calmly engineered
for serious work.

FEM Bespoke Homes Ltd is a digital and IT engineering company. We design, build and operate the software, cloud systems and automation that organisations rely on every day — with a bias for clarity, reliability and long-term maintainability.

/ 01 Introduction

A software company built around craft, not slogans.

We work with founders, product teams and internal technology leaders who need software that behaves correctly under pressure. Everything we ship is written to be understood by the people who will maintain it a year from now — including us.

The company was formed to concentrate on a narrow set of disciplines: applied engineering, cloud operations, data, security and interface design. We do not chase trends; we choose durable tools, document what we build, and stay accountable for the outcome.

/ 02 Capabilities

Core IT capabilities

Five practice areas, one team. We combine them as each engagement requires — from a single service to a multi-year modernisation programme.

/ 01

Applied software engineering

Web platforms, internal tools, mobile apps and APIs written in typed languages with rigorous testing, review and continuous delivery from day one.

/ 02

Cloud & platform engineering

Infrastructure as code, containerised workloads, CI/CD pipelines and observability — designed for cost, uptime and safe change.

/ 03

Data & AI

Data engineering, analytics, embeddings and pragmatic machine learning applied to concrete business questions.

/ 04

Security

Threat modelling, hardening and secure development.

/ 03 Services

/ 04 Challenges

The problems our clients bring to us.

Legacy that blocks change

Applications and databases that were fit for a previous era of the business but now slow every new initiative.

Manual work at scale

Teams spending hours on repetitive processes that ought to be automated end to end.

Fragmented data

Numbers that never reconcile because they live across separate tools with no reliable pipeline.

Uncertain reliability

Systems that mostly work — until a small change or a load spike exposes fragile foundations.

Security risk

Unclear ownership of access, secrets and third-party dependencies across a growing surface.

Product-market fit iteration

Founders needing to test ideas quickly without accumulating technical debt they will regret.

/ 05 Stack

Deliberate tools. Boring where boring is a virtue.

/ 06 Process

Software development process

A repeatable structure that keeps every engagement honest, observable and adaptable to the reality of the work.

  1. Discovery

We start with the problem, not the solution. Interviews, systems review, constraints, success criteria.

  2. Architecture

A written proposal covering data, services, interfaces, hosting, security and operational cost.

  3. Iteration

Short cycles of design, build and review — with working software in staging every week.

  4. Hardening

Load, security, accessibility, observability and disaster-recovery checks before anything ships.

  5. Release

Progressive rollout with monitoring, feature flags and clear rollback paths.

  6. Operate

Ongoing care: patches, upgrades, incident response, roadmap reviews and cost tuning.

/ 07 Transformation

Digital transformation, done at a human pace.

Transformation programmes fail when they are treated as a single procurement event. We treat them as continuous improvement — mapping the current state, removing friction in the most painful places first, then compounding the results.

  • Systems audit and dependency mapping
  • Process redesign with the teams doing the work
  • Incremental replacement of legacy components
  • Change enablement and internal documentation

/ 08 Security & reliability

Security is a property of the way we build.

Every system we ship is designed against a written threat model. Authentication, authorisation, secret management, dependency policy and audit logging are considered from the first architecture review — not bolted on before launch.

Threat modelling

STRIDE-based analysis of every new service or major feature.

Secure defaults

Encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, short-lived credentials.

Continuous review

Automated dependency and code scanning integrated into delivery pipelines.

/ 09 Cloud

Cloud & infrastructure that stays out of your way.

We treat infrastructure as software: versioned, reviewed, tested and continuously deployed. That discipline turns cloud from an unpredictable line-item into a set of measurable, maintainable systems your team can actually reason about.

Infrastructure as code

Terraform, Pulumi, versioned modules.

Elastic workloads

Container orchestration, autoscaling, spot strategies.

Observability

Metrics, logs, traces, SLOs and error budgets.

Cost control

Rightsizing, reserved capacity, deliberate architecture.

/ 10 AI · Automation · Data

Intelligence that pays for itself.

We apply artificial intelligence and automation where the return is real: routing decisions, summarisation, extraction from unstructured content, classification, anomaly detection and internal copilots that respect access controls.

/ 12 Why teams choose us

We treat your business as a serious engineering problem — because that is what it deserves. We write software the way a good workshop makes furniture: with the joints visible, the materials chosen deliberately, and a warranty attached to the work.

Senior teams

You work with the people writing the code, not a layer of account managers.

Written thinking

Every decision has a document. Every document has an owner.

Long horizon

We build for the second year of the system, not the launch demo.

Small footprint

We keep our teams small so accountability is impossible to lose.

/ 13 Delivery

/ 14 Principles

Quality and security principles we hold to.

These are the non-negotiables of how we work. They are not marketing lines; they are the reason we keep long-term client relationships.

  • Every change is reviewed before it reaches production.
  • Every deployment is reversible.
  • Every service is monitored and alerted against measurable objectives.
  • Every secret has an owner and a rotation policy.
  • Every dependency is tracked, scanned and updated.
  • Every incident produces a written post-mortem and a repair item.

/ 15 FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What kind of engagements do you take on?
Ground-up product builds, targeted modernisation of an existing system, ongoing engineering partnerships and independent technical reviews. We prefer engagements where the outcome and the constraints are both clearly stated.
How do you scope a new project?
We start with a short discovery, produce a written proposal covering scope, architecture, timeline and cost, and only then commit. If a project needs more discovery than we can give in that phase, we say so.
Do you work with existing internal teams?
Yes. We are used to embedding alongside internal engineers, sharing repositories, code review practices and on-call rotations, and handing over cleanly when the internal team is ready to own the work.
What technologies do you specialise in?
Typed languages on the server (Go, TypeScript, Python), React and native tooling on the client, PostgreSQL and modern data infrastructure, and the major public clouds. We choose per project, not per fashion.
How is intellectual property handled?
Client engagements are structured so that all deliverables — source code, documentation, infrastructure definitions — belong to the client on delivery, subject to the terms agreed in the contract.
How do we get in touch to discuss a project?
Business and project enquiries are handled by email at bonniemart68@gmail.com. We reply with an initial questionnaire and, if the fit looks right, a call.
